For a photographer, how you go about getting good photos varies so widely. Maybe by the cost of equipment, an ability to travel to photo rich destinations, or maybe technical expertise, or just dumb luck. Seemingly now in the digital age (1) technical camera matters or computer/software issues consume more discussion than the photo itself and (2) lots more pictures are being taken (a good thing- fewer dusty expensive cameras sitting on shelves with undeveloped film aside of ‘em).

Everything though happily varies by what your eyes sees…how adept you are at getting the image to the final output, to the print, or even a web page. Many photographer have a comfort zone. Some successfully never leave it.  Kinda a shame to some degree. Though their work can be stunning. Would I want my daughters to be renowned and critically acclaimed photographers by planting their butts on the seacoast – for 30 years – capturing the endless moods of the ocean, the oft angry sea sky and the crashing waves, throw in a dock or some driftwood, and add tablespoon of mist. Nah.

Take the camera to the baseball game, to a wedding, to the city, and for me of course to the back roads.  You, the camera and passion.  Passion defined as the addicting pleasure you derive from, well, creating art.   A cool things getting that pic you like. Like a little leaguer with a new baseball glove.
